Author of 'The Culture of Singapore English'.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eDaniel Emlyn-Jones was born in Aberystwyth, Wales in 1973, and lived in Lampeter until 1979, when with his parents he moved to Oxford. He studied for a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry at Bristol University (1992-1996), a PhD at University College London (1996-2000) and then spent six years doing postdoctoral research on the photosynthetic enzyme Rubisco, at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia. During this time he also worked as a residential tutor in Burgmann College at the ANU. In 2006 he received Australian citizenship, and in the same year returned to UK where he studied for a medical degree (MBChB) at Warwick University (2007-2011). He graduated in 2011, but through various twists and turns ended up as a freelance maths and science teacher working in Oxford.
