Her study of Buddhist philosophy, in particular the concept of emptiness and the illusion-like nature of ultimate reality, have influenced Annie both explicitly (citing and using lines from the famous Samadhiraja Sutra) and implicitly, enabling her to reframe and read afresh life experiences in the context of the agency and freedom such a vast view affords. This is very inspiring. She received her first writing grant with a seed commission from the Soho Theatre Company in London. She has published poetry and prose in literary journals, been a Pushcart nominee, won third place in the Biscuit Poetry competition, and been a finalist in the Strokestown Poetry Competition. Her poetry collection, Plateau Migration, was published by Alabaster Leaves Press in 2012. Her translation work is supported by 84000, Translating the Words of the Buddha.
