This manual is based upon the basic principles laid down in the Landing Operation Doctrine, U.S. Navy, (FTP 167), the Ship to Shore Movement (FTP 211), the Transport Doctrine, Amphibious Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and the results of experiences and experimentations by Army and Marine Divisions, and various amphibious training centers. There are nine chapters describing the organization of an amphibious task force, naval data of interest to a troop transport quartermaster (TQM), characteristics of landing craft, the transport quartermaster, preparation of loading forms, combat unit loading, garrison force landing, preparation and movement of cargo, and landing ships.
