If you turn to any page in this collection, you'll find a poem flexed near to the snapping point. This Frayed Universe has tight language and images that blaze. Brashear isn't afraid to write about struggles that people with mental illness face. The speakers in these poems share wounds and hopes of healing. In them, there is love and a love of the damaged pieces which don't quite fit in a puzzle but look as though they should. These poems somehow push them in place. More than anything, the readers will leave each of these pages moved.
Author Biography
Sarah Brashear lives in Pennsylvania and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Chatham University. Her first full-length book of poetry, On Beacon Street, was published by Cawing Crow Press. She is currently a writing instructor at Lebanon Valley College. When she isn't writing or teaching, she enjoys playing tennis and going to concerts.
