Other subject areas addressed include the relation of text to personal ideology, political views, and sexual politics and identity. The remaining chapters explore Sand's relationships with her contemporaries, including Alfred de Musset, Balzac, Flaubert, and Alexandre Dumas fils. She edited \u003ci\u003eThe George Sand Papers\u003c\/i\u003e (Conference Proceedings, 1976 and 1978), and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of \u003ci\u003eGeorge Sand Studies\u003c\/i\u003e. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eJEANNE FUCHS is Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages at Hofstra University. She has also been Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs for four years. Her main research is in eighteenth-century French literature, and she is working on a book on Rousseau's \u003ci\u003eLa Nouvelle Heloise\u003c\/i\u003e. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eDAVID A. POWELL is Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor of French at Hofstra University.
