With works by Black voices such as Zora Neale Hurston, Countee Cullen, and W. E. B. Jeffrey C. Stewart is Professor of Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of The New Negro: The Life of Alain Locke (OUP, 2018), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
