by Vanessa Narciso (Author), Ralph Hipps (Author)
The Joy of Writing is an exploration of the art of prose. Assessing writing in terms of style and substance, it discusses both how to write and what to write, as well as why to write, offering balanced overviews of key issues along the way. It is a book for those who have lost their way, and forgotten why they started in the first place. It is addressed to you, the struggling writer, who have forgotten how to get a tune out of your instrument. This book is designed to help you remember.
Author Biography
Ralph Hipps is a freelance writer from Harrogate, England. Half Jewish, half Scottish, he carries suffering in his genes. He has a first class degree from Durham University and, now that he has graduated, the world is his oyster. As far back as he can remember he always wanted to be a writer. As a child, his mother would read Enid Blyton to him in bed, and help him to write stories about the adventures of a dog named Bobby Boo. As the years advanced, and he became acquainted with difficulty, writing became a refuge from reality. Maturation -- reconciliation to the immutable -- occurred slowly but surely, and he emerged annealed, if a little desensitized. Determined, now, to heal the world through words, he hopes to reach as wide a readership as possible.
