by Abu Huthayfa (Author)
The book begins by exploring Ali ibn Abi Talib's (رضي الله عنه) early life. From a young age, Ali showed a sharp mind and a deep understanding of the Qur'an and the teachings of Islam. Alongside his knowledge, he grew into a brave and skilled warrior, taking part in many of the early battles fought by the Muslims.
Although Ali (R) was not chosen as the first caliph, he later became the fourth caliph in 656 CE, following the martyrdom of Uthman ibn Affan (R). His leadership came at a difficult time, as disagreements arose within the Muslim community over who held the rightful claim to the caliphate. These tensions led to internal conflicts and uprisings during Ali's rule.
Ali (R) was eventually martyred in 661 CE by a member of the Kharijite sect, a group that opposed his leadership. Despite these challenges, Ali remained firm in his faith and commitment to justice.
The book also shares a powerful moment from the life of the Prophet ﷺ. Before the Battle of Khaybar, the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions, "Tomorrow I will give the flag to a man through whom Allah and His Messenger will grant victory." That night, the Companions wondered who it would be. The next day, the Prophet ﷺ asked, "Where is Ali?" When Ali (R) was brought to him, the Prophet ﷺ placed the flag in his hand, marking one of Ali's greatest honours.
This section helps young readers understand Ali's courage, knowledge, and loyalty, and why he remains one of the most respected figures in Islamic history.
