Seventeen-year-old Gil Leduc returns to France after a four-year absence. He hopes to spend a quiet summer vacation with his cousin Catherine, an actor in a French police series. While on the train though, he reads an article about an American student having gone missing in Royan. He wonders if it is somebody he knows. Also on the train, Valerie Cartier, an elderly woman who lives in Royan, shows Gil a picture of a young lady who she claims is her granddaughter. Valerie and the girl both seem familiar to Gil, but Valerie denies ever having seen Gil before.
Gil meets Catherine at one of the beaches in Royan and witnesses an attempted kidnapping.
Later Gil and his girlfriend Jan Barrio stumble on the dead body of a girl they knew from back home.
Gil and Jan investigate along with Catherine and their friends Liz and Alyssa. Their investigation leads them to a dangerous drug ring.
Will Gil and Jan find out who killed the girl or will they experience a similar fate?
