Strongin is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at Portland State University.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHe has studied the chemistry of vaping since 2013. He has been interested in determining\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehow flavorings, including terpenes and other vape constituents, react and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edegrade when heated and aerosolized. In 2017 he began to investigate cannabis vaping\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand published the first peer-reviewed reports on the specific byproducts formed\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewhen dabbing terpenes, and, more recently, on the reactions and products that form\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eupon vaping and dabbing concentrated cannabis oil mixtures. Dr. Strongin runs an\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003einternationally recognized research program, is a founder of two biotech startup\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ecompanies, and is known for his contributions to STEM education. In addition to\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etobacco control and cannabis science, he is an expert in the field of biosensors and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etargeted molecular probes for imaging cancer tissue.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMonica Vialpando is a pharmaceutically trained product development scientist, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003especializing in the formulation of poorly water-soluble drugs.
