Author Biography
MARK REED Several years of expatriate management postings to African railway companies have given Mark a unique insight into local cultures and business operating methods in remote countries throughout the Dark Continent of Africa. The Guy Lucan series of thriller novels are based on real existing railway networks in sub-Saharan Africa and are a combination of a crime thriller and travelogue in each country. Mark has drawn extensively from his long experience of living and working in post-colonial Francophone & English speaking Africa to describe accurately the people and sights of modern day Central Africa. His first novel - Blood Wood - is set in Madagascar and deals with the recent illegal logging of hard timber forests in the north of the island which has become an international environmental crime. This book both introduces the central character of Guy Lucan who then continues in the subsequent books in the series. Whilst the series is aimed at railway enthusiasts, readers interested in exotic travel and people who enjoy a fast moving thriller storyline filled with intrigue, danger, love and ironic humour, will equally enjoy. The author continues to work in the railway industry in Central Africa and lives with his family in Africa.
