How should church members determine what to pay their pastor? What should churches do when they can't afford to compensate their pastors properly? Too often questions like these go unanswered because they're too difficult or too awkward to address. Thanks to Pastoral Compensation 101, however, you can now learn not only the biblical philosophy on the matter, but also practical steps to caring for your pastor.
Both resourceful and humorous, it starts off with a modern-day parable about a church committee tasked with setting the pastor's salary. This comprehensive guide also provides:
- how to select the compensation committee and have annual meetings
- how to appreciate why pastors are gifts to each church
- why a pastoral effectiveness assessment is biblically supported
- ways to avoid harm caused by underpaying or overpaying a pastor
- types of benefits like insurance, housing allowance, retirement, and leave
- superb ministry-related IRS and other tax resources
