Public life in the United States is changing dramatically. Longstanding democratic institutions are under attack. Prior political assumptions no longer seem to apply to our current situation. Well-established ethical norms are being challenged on multiple fronts. We are facing a significant spiritual crisis that will determine the future of who we are as a people.

This reality is causing many to question what is happening, as they try to navigate what this new day means personally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. This crisis affects how we relate to each other. In various ways, we have all been touched by the emerging political realities and negative spiritual fallout that are part of Trumpworld's impact on the world.

How the hell did we get here? How do we protect and maintain our inner spirits? What can we do to respond to what is happening in meaningful ways? How do we make progress toward creating a healthier, more spiritually grounded society?



Navigating Trumpworld explores and examines what the policies, words, and behaviors of the Trump Administration mean to our inner lives and how we can use twelve basic, spiritual practices to ground ourselves, resist what we are witnessing, and find a positive way forward.

Author Biography

I am a United Methodist minister and native Oregonian who has served urban, rural, and suburban congregations in Oregon and Idaho for over 25 years. I have also worked for United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and Community Action in Washington County and did community organizing and program development at Catholic Charities in San Francisco.



Currently, I facilitate conversations on "Talking Values Across Political Divides" for Oregon Humanities. I have published a number of opinion pieces, poems, and short essays in local publications. Navigating Trumpworld: A Spiritual Guide for Turbulent Times was published through Resource Publications, an imprint of Wipf and Stock Publishers, in August 2025. In addition, Rediscovering the Spirit: From Political Brokenness to Spiritual Wholeness was first released through Wipf and Stock Publishers in October 2020.
