by Pastor Jenny Small (Author)
In "Learning To Respect Your Parents", we see CiCi Light at the age of twelve, still continuing to be very rude, disrespectful and rebellious to her parents, but her Dad believes that the application of patient, loving care will eventually cause her to come around. Mrs. Light is very concerned about CiCi's nonchalant attitude and asks her husband what he suggests they should do. Mr. Light tells his wife that they cannot give up on CiCi, because they love her, and that they must humbly continue to give of their best, because LOVE NEVER ABANDONS. Mr. Light said that many parents believe that change will not come in their children, so they give up easily, without trying to assist them to strive for excellence, as they learn to honor and respect their parents, and their elders. This example of guidance from CiCi's Dad shows how important it is for the Dad to be part of children's lives, because love never abandons and, "UNITY IS STRENGTH".
Author Biography
Pastor Jenny Small is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of Tamia. From her experience as a parent, she realizes that there is much loving need and guidance for children to understand the importance of respecting their parents. In her parental training and guidance to her daughters as a single parent, several challenges arose where she needed to remind her daughters of the need to honor and respect her and their dad, because in doing so, they are obeying the commandments of God, and blessings of long life are released, in addition to the other blessings that God will impart to them. From her first hand experience, Pastor Small seeks to help children understand the importance and need to respect their parents, in spite of what ever situations that may occur, because obedience to God takes precedence, and God will take care of the rest. Pastor Jenny Small is the Executive Director of He Restores My Soul Outreach Ministries, Inc. Pastor Small previously volunteered at Volunteers of America Greater New York and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation. She has counseled domestic violence victims at Emmaus Shelter, which was previously located on 125th Street, NY, NY, before it was closed. Pastor Small assisted the Harlem Community Justice Center with their program in re-gentrification of people back into the society. She was also commissioned to go to Riker's Island to mentor a 19-year old male. In addition, she hosted a Youth Conference, entitled, "You Are Not Alone."
