As a fiction editor with The Editorial Department, he was instrumental in helping new authors publish their manuscripts and also taught workshops on various aspects of writing. Candy Poindexter, Jim's wife for 31 years, enjoys finding his unpublished works to edit and to update in order to publish them as a memoriam to him.
