Dr. Murakami has a background in direct practice, supervision, and program development and management in the fields of trauma and refugee mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. She has designed and taught courses on social work practice with survivors of forced displacement, and she conducts trainings on trauma-informed care, social work practice with survivors of torture, working with interpreters, and practitioner wellbeing. She is technical advisor and clinical supervisor of the refugee psychosocial support program of Friends of Kisoro, a community-based organization in Uganda.
