Hey Sal! is written in the form of letters saluting a selection of biblical role models. It focusses on male role models but includes a chapter summarising some female trend-setters to be explored at a later date. At a time when there seems to be a dearth in positive role models for each generation to look up to, the Bible continues to present a 'great company of witnesses' who set trends and broke barriers. These amazing role models who are prevalent through God's love letters to the world he so loved highlight aspects of their lives from which hope can be gleaned and lessons learned. Although we look up to them as positive role models, we also learn from their mistakes. Their lives become the warning signs in the Highway Code of our lives, pointing out where they fell, where they failed, where they messed up. None of them is perfect just like we also are not but despite their imperfections, they still present us with ladders out of our own messes to solid ground where we can begin again. Also included in Hey Sal! is the only One who is perfect but does not expect us to attain perfection on our own, choosing instead to cover us with His perfection. He remains the author and perfecter of our faith, our Lord Jesus, who is the role model of role models.

Author Biography

Farikanayi was born and raised during Zimbabwe's colonial era after which she pursued undergraduate and postgraduate studies in both USA and the UK where she currently resides with her two sons and two daughters. Now that her children are older, Farikanayi is catching up on dormant and shelved dreams delving into writing more consistently, setting up and running an event-organising business while also pursuing opportunities both in teaching and social work. She is a member of a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural church congregation which is a central part of her life and through which her heterogeneous circle of friends and family has continued to expand. This is her second book published in 2013 after 'The Shells That Shaped My Life'.
