by F. H. Jones Jensen (Author)
In 1887, a trek of L.D.S. pioneers left Utah to come northward into a little corner of Canada that is bounded on the West by the Rocky Mountains and on the South by the 49th parallel. From that time hardy pioneers came bringing families and herds of cattle. One group hired three cowboys whose names were never recorded for posterity. This story is a what if of how one of them might have decided to hire on and come north. As I am in my 87th year and there are only one or two left who might even remember some of these stories, I took it upon myself to put pen to paper and record these vignettes.
Author Biography
As a tomboy; who was born and grew up in southwestern Alberta, Canada, in the days before radio, telephones, television, computers and sophisticated electronics, etc.; as a farmer's daughter and cowboy's wife my life was always hands on with animals. My early years were spent as a lone child, making up playmates, stories and jingles. No one wrote them down, but I do have a dim recollection of an imaginary sister named Urdnur and a tree branch that was a wonderful magical stick horse named Godra. Cats, dogs and farm animals were my best friends. Thusly, they and nature are what I have written about for the most part.
