This book was written primarily for college peer tutors, though any tutor will find useful information. College peer tutors are rarely following career paths in education, they simply know their subject matter well, enjoy helping people, and find working at their college convenient, so they just need to know what works. This book provides the basic how-tos of tutoring, introducing some educational concepts without being heavy. It is written in an easy, conversational style and includes practical examples, reflective questions, and many resources in the appendix.
Author Biography
Arleen Janz is an educator with over 25 years of experience at all age levels from pre-k to college. She worked for eight years as a college tutoring center supervisor, and it was at that time that she saw the need for a basic, foundational how-to manual for tutors. She currently works as an instructional designer for e-learning.
