Featuring interviews with eight progressive trainers from around the world, EQxpressionists questions what makes horses special to people, how we can create good relationships with our horses, and how we can develop a horsemanship practice that is fuel for life. Those interviewed share their experiences training horses for showing, trail riding, and demonstrations. From Classical Dressage to trick-training, the individuals featured are sure to inspire. EQxpressionists encourages readers to imagine their dream horses and digs at the question, "How should we work with our equines so that they can truly be the horses of our dreams?"

Author Biography

Kali Kiger coined the term, "EQxpressionism," (short for "equestrian expressionism") in 2009, in hopes of giving credence to a world-wide movement of playing with horses artistically. Kiger, who began riding at age 6, combines classical ideas about posture and movement with natural horsemanship and positive reinforcement methodology. Kiger operates a lessons and training program in Bend, Oregon, USA. She primarily works with ranch raised Welsh pony colts and Mustangs. Kiger is perpetually exploring how little is needed to gentle a horse in hopes of finding the simplest way for the horse to understand. What she teaches her students, and what she identifies as the link among EQxpressionists, is the goal of art-making in the interchange between horse and human. Kiger has two more volumes of EQxpressionists in the works and hopes that the movement will continue to take off around the world, with many EQxpressionistic trainers and facilities in existence.
