by Peter a. Rogers (Author)
In the early-1900's there was an attempt by Irish Nationalists to regain their sovereignty and freedom from Great Britain with an armed Rising in 1916, followed by a War of Independence during the years 1919 until 1921 when peace negotiations began, resulting in a Treaty signed in December 1921. Ireland was partitioned as a result of this Treaty. This book documents information, recounts actions of men from County Westmeath who fought and died during this, and subsequent periods in the fight Irish freedom.
Author Biography
The author is a native of Multyfarnham, County Westmeath in the Irish midlands. Although being a journalist, this is his first publication as he has worked in the hospitality sector for the past seventeen years, having two public houses and a restaurant during those years. He still lives in the Irish midlands in the small village of Rathowen, close to the county boundary between Westmeath and Longford.
