by Fifth Army Headquarters (Created by)
One of the worst disasters in Nebraska's history led to Operation Snowbound in the winter of 1948 through 1949. Operation Snowbound was a humanitarian mission conducted by the Fifth Army as well as other organizations and whose goal was to provide relief for snowbound families and livestock. The object of this report was to record the experience of the Fifth Army disaster force "Snowbound," furnish a guide for future operations of a similar nature, and to extract lessons applicable to military operations.
