The dehumanization of individuals or of peoples within a particular race or religion has been a scourge dotting human history. This poetry collection is a tribute to those known and little-known figures who have given themselves in defense of the most vulnerable in our society and around the world. These men and women understood that every individual is made in the image and likeness of the Creator and must be treated with dignity, love, and respect for human life.
Author Biography
Anita M. Hessenauer (PhD, University of Strasbourg) is a freelance writer in Dublin, Ohio. She writes poetry, prose, and has published articles in various periodicals. She has three poetry collections: Authenticity (2019), We All Belong (2021), and Let Go (2023), which was a finalist for the Ohioana Book Award in Poetry. Hessenauer has taught at The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, and Bowling Green State University. She is a fully professed Third-Order Carmelite.
