The place was named Faizabad and grew to become the political capital and a renowned centre of culture and prosperity under its successive nawabs. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Faizabad's tryst with its royalty lasted for over half a century before passing the baton to Lucknow, which became the new capital of Awadh. The new first city shed its old husk to adorn a fresh one. The praxis, customs, etiquettes, poetry, art and craft that its royalty fashioned remain alive to this day.\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eBorn and raised in Faizabad, Rakesh Bhasin is a graduate in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur and a postgraduate from IIT Delhi. He also acquired an MPhil in Social Sciences from Punjab University. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e Besides engineering, the author has cultivated an interest in literature, history and the occult sciences. He has read extensively in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu languages. Among his varied interests, that include photography, music, travelling and fine arts, writing remains his passion. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e In the past, he has co-authored two published volumes of selected stories of Munshi Premchand (abridged).
