Deepening globalization has generated great social dislocation and uncertainty about collective identity and to anxiety about how to accommodate apparently unstoppable external influences. The studies in this volume explore areas which have experienced significant impact from globalization, including immigration policy, ethnic and racial intermarriage, attitudes towards ethnic and racial minorities, national and cultural identity, education policy and labor relations. The approach used is innovative in juxtaposing two societies which, although developed, are contrasting in their historical origins and contemporary cultural legacies.

Author Biography

Ernest Healy is Research Affiliate with the School of Social Science at Monash University, Australia.

Dharma Arunachalam is Associate Professor of Sociology with the School of Social Sciences, Monash University, Australia.

Tetsuo Mizukami is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Rikkyo Institute for Global Urban Studies at Rikkyo University, Japan.

Number of Pages: 289

Dimensions: 0.63 x 9.21 x 6.14 IN

Illustrated: Yes

Publication Date: February 11, 2016

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0300/5595/6612/files/xqt3E__thB9781349705009_5193390c-c14f-4cf8-ab6b-cd00ba73780d.webp?v=1769076484
https://www.vysn.com/products/creating-social-cohesion-in-an-interdependent-world-experiences-of-australia-and-japan-paperback-1
