She is the author of \u003cbr\u003esixteenth books, novels and short story collections, translated into \u003cbr\u003etwelve languages. She was awarded the Pen Club Prize for the Novel twice\u003cbr\u003e in 1981 and 1989, the Grand Prix for the Novel by the Portuguese \u003cbr\u003eWriters' Association in 1995, the Fiction Prize of the ICLA \u003cbr\u003e(International Critics' Literary Association) in 1995 and the Portuguese\u003cbr\u003e Writers' Association's Grand Prix for the Short Story in 2001, the \u003cbr\u003eLiterary Prize of the Inês de Castro Foundation in 2008 and the Prize \u003cbr\u003efor Novel António Quadros in 2012.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJethro Soutar is a translator of Portuguese and Spanish. His translation of \u003ci\u003eBy Night The Mountain Burns\u003c\/i\u003e by\u003cbr\u003e Juan Tomás Ávila Laurel was shortlisted for the 2015 Independent \u003cbr\u003eForeign Fiction Prize. He recently founded Ragpicker Press and co-edited\u003cbr\u003e its debut title, \u003ci\u003eThe Football Crónicas\u003c\/i\u003e, a collection of Latin American narrative non-fiction.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAnnie McDermott translates fiction and poetry from Spanish and Portuguese, and her work has appeared in publications such as Granta, World Literature Today, Asymptote, The Missing Slate, and Two Lines.
