The city is known as the Economic Engine of the San Gabriel Valley, and currently, it provides 68,000 jobs for the valley's population of 1.7 million people. In the 1970s, the city developed the internationally renowned Industry Hills Resort and Conference Center and the Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum.
