This book discusses Bonds Conway (1763-1843) who was born in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia, as an enslaved man, later ventured into Kershaw County, and the historic town of Camden, South Carolina about 1792. Included is information on how Bonds purchased his own freedom, became a businessman, purchased property, and contributed to the community of Camden of the early 1800s. Information gleaned from three family Bibles, which have survived more than two hundred years, is included. There are numerous other documents, that gives us much information about Bonds and his descendants, who prospered during the late 19th and the early years of the 20th century. This collection also includes the first Conway family member who arrived in the British Colony of Virginia in 1640, and traces the early
Conway Family back through numerous generations to the Conwy Castle, in Wales, United Kingdom.
