Author Biography
A. E. W. (Alfred Edward Woodley) Mason (May 7, 1865-November 22, 1948) was a British author and politician who is best known for his historical romances, the best known of which is The Four Feathers which was made into several movies. He served one term in parliament. During the First World War he served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry rising to the rank of Major. He was the author of more than twenty books. His first mystery was At the Villa Rose (1910), which was followed by The House of the Arrow (1924) and The Prisoner in Opal (1928). In addition to his novels and short stories, he also wrote three plays.
