by Carol Lassiter (Author)
While in an Oklahoma camp meeting, God spoke to Carol's heart about writing a book concerning the great need for positive affirmation among the members of the body of Christ. Quite often there are those attending church services who possess feeling of loneliness, depression, or despondency. How their spirits would be lifted by a warm handshake, a loving smile, and a kind word from a member of the Body. Yet how many Christians really accept the mandate Christ gave "to practice loving each other"? Sharing testimonies gleaned from her 30 years as a pastor's wife, Carol challenges her readers to make a difference in the lives of those about them and in their local church. We can do this by creating unity and love through the words we speak and our actions to others. The choice is up to every individual, but indeed, as believers practice being "spirit lifters", the lives of others will be greatly affected.
Author Biography
Carol Lassiter lives in Frisco, Texas with her husband Colen. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Colen and Carol have spent many years as pastors in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma. After 30 plus years of being a pastor's wife, Carol was prompted by the Holy Spirit to write about the need for unity, love & positive affirmation in the Body of Christ. Carol gleans stories from her own personal experiences as a pastor's wife, & also as a mother and wife. Carol's story begins when her first child, Audra, was diagnosed as being deaf. While in a revival, Carol was exposed to measles. When the doctor diagnosed Audra as deaf, the Lassiter's were trying to cope as any young couple would do. Adding to their grief were comments from the church: "Well, there must be some sin in their lives or their daughter would not be deaf." This book comes from the heart of Carol as she has had many experiences seeing people's faith and lives destroyed by unkind words & deeds. "A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?" Proverbs 18:14
