Author Biography
JON L. BREEN is the author of eight novels and around a hundred short stories, along with many critical articles and book reviews. He won Edgar Awards from Mystery Writers of America for What About Murder: A Guide to Books about Mystery and Detective Fiction (1981) and Novel Verdicts: A Guide to Court-room Fiction (1984). His 1988 novel Touch of the Past was shortlisted for the Crime Writers Association's Dagger Awards. Breen's most recent short story collection is Kill the Umpire: The Calls of Ed Gorgon (Crippen & Landru, 2003). His most recent novels are Eye of God (Perseverance, 2006) and Probable Claus (Five Star, forthcoming in 2009). Proprietor of the "Jury Box" column in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, he is also a frequent contributor to Mystery Scene and The Weekly Standard. Retired as a librarian and professor of English at Rio Hondo College, he lives in Fountain Valley, California, with his wife, Rita A. Breen, with whom he edited the 1986 anthology American Murders.
