by Ben Sperandeo (Author)
881 Khe Sahn is a high action novel loosely based on some facts. The combat base and the hilltop outposts around it were under constant North Vietnamese ground, artillery, mortar and rocket attacks. The story takes place in 1968 as a Division of North Vietnamese Regular troops and Viet Congs surrounded the smaller contingent of Marines and their supporting units who protected the Khe Sahn Combat Basin. In the ensuing battle that lasted for 77 days, India Company, who protected, Hill 881S and the rest of the 26th Marine regiment were nearly wiped out. The strong willpower of the embattled Marines to do anything to remain alive to fight another day, kept them going. The action and the need to stay alive kept the adrenaline pumping and eventually with over 8000 enemy troops killed and countless others wounded they were victorious.
