The essays and information provided span all these purposes.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eAbout the Author: Pike Messenger grew up on a subsistence farm in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Salt marshes and the Merrimack River were his playgrounds. After college he served aboard two Navy ships for five years in the western Pacific. He went on to teach high school biology for 30 years, 22 at Triton Regional School on the Parker River estuary. In Middleton, he and good wife Chitose raised three children. After teaching he served as his town's conservation agent for 14 years.
