Together, the two volumes provide an integral and comprehensive examination and pedagogy for the mastery of the English language. The two volumes introduce 55 innovative breakthroughs in the learning and teaching (1) of vocabulary acquisition; (2) of grammar; and (3) of punctuation, but more importantly, they introduce a novel system of English composition based on 11 standard Forms of the English Sentence. The books highlight as well effective new methods for teaching reading, and they provide insightful instructions and guidelines for the creative use of imagination and literature in education. For the first time, the books include a large collection of excellent student essays as models for new students to use in composing 13 separate writing assignments. Finally, the books in their entirety introduce and exemplify for the first time a novel genre of literature, the Symphonic Assemblage. The books also feature various assemblages of excellent essays, poems, and numerous excerpts by famous writers. Volume I introduces and explains the major innovations of the two Volumes, specifies the three languages employed by human beings (the Mother Tongue, the Father Tongue, and the Imaginative Tongue), and provides multiple examples that instruct students how to write excellent sentences and paragraphs.

Author Biography

Richard Dowling, M.A. Richard Dowling is an associate professor with the Asian Division of the University of Maryland University College, where he has taught English Composition, History, and Government courses in Asia for 20 years - in Guam, Japan, and Australia, with 15 of those years in South Korea.
