I was also invited back to Berlin to make contact once more with the Berlin Ecumenical Council, and in the following year was guest of honour at the 50th anniversary celebrations of the 'Karolinger Youth House'. During conversations and discussions it became apparent that my German friends had little or no knowledge of what the so-called 'victors' were going through in post-war Britain. This book is an abridged edition of Hugh Maw's post-war German Journal \/ Diary while serving, after training, in the Friends Relief Service (FRS) in Berlin and Cologne as an ambulance and truck driver, delivering International Red Cross food and relief supplies.
