His foreign service career included postings in the Arabian\/Persian Gulf region as Cultural and Public Affairs Officer, and as Desk Officer in Washington, DC.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs an academic, he taught at the University of Wyoming, and later at the U.S. Army War College where he was Professor and Director of Middle East Studies.
