The book Suleiman the Magnificent covers the reign of the Ottoman Sultan of that name. It describes the magnificence and opulence of his court. It traces the origins of the sons of Osman as well as the development of Ottoman ruling institutions. Then it covers the expansion of the Ottoman Empire from Egypt and Arabia upto Hungary and even France. Truly this is the age of the magnificent Sultan as he was known in the West. To his own subjects he was the Lawgiver. The book describes the Millet system of the Ottomans which protects minorities within the State. It also covers the development of art and architecture in that age.
Author Biography
Satyananda Giri was a Hindu monk belonging to Sri Gnanananda Tapovanam, South India. He spent many years writing books on history and philosophy. His books include Kant, Naropa, Akbar and In the Twirling of a Lotus. He passed away on March 31, 2015. The book Suleiman the Magnificent was an unfinished manuscript which was completed by the author's niece Srikala.
