As a minority language located between two European\u003cbr\u003e states (France and Spain) with different approach towards minority \u003cbr\u003elanguages, the task of understanding the legal framework of the Basque \u003cbr\u003elanguage and its relationship with the community of speakers is \u003cbr\u003echallenging. In fact, this legal framework results in a vast array of \u003cbr\u003elegal rules for Basque speakers. This book examines the fundamental and \u003cbr\u003elinguistic rights of these minority language speakers (norm users), from\u003cbr\u003e international and European legal frameworks to national or regional \u003cbr\u003eones. It carries out a comparative analysis between France and Spain, \u003cbr\u003eand between the three Basque regions to examine the legal framework. \u003cbr\u003eThis doctrinal analysis is complemented by the study of key actors \u003cbr\u003eparticipating in the context and implementation of the legal norms \u003cbr\u003eregulating the Basque language. An emphasis is placed on the analysis of\u003cbr\u003e the relationship between the legal framework of the Basque language and\u003cbr\u003e the Basque society, applying a sociolegal methodology.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIhintza PALACIN MARISCAL studied law at the Université de Pau et des \u003cbr\u003ePays de l'Adour (UPPA), in Bayonne, France, where she enrolled for a \u003cbr\u003esemester at the University of the Basque Country (UPV\/EHU) with a \u003cbr\u003ecross-border grant. She then obtained an MA in sociology of law at the \u003cbr\u003eInternational Institute for the Sociology of Law in Oñati, Spain. There, \u003cbr\u003e she started exploring the Basque language and its cross-border \u003cbr\u003edimension. After she graduated, she was admitted to the European \u003cbr\u003eUniversity Institute, in Firenze, Italy, where, with the Salvador de \u003cbr\u003eMadariaga grant, she obtained an LLM on comparative European and \u003cbr\u003eInternational laws as well as a PhD in law. This book is based on that \u003cbr\u003eresearch.\u003cbr\u003eAfter the completion of her PhD, she has been working to create a Cross-\u003cbr\u003eBorder\u003cbr\u003e Cooperation Institute at the Franco-Spanish border, the Euro-Institut \u003cbr\u003ePyrene.
