by Charles Lee Moore (Author)
The play is over. Most of the actors are dead or gone, but the story lingers on, too haunting to forget, yet too frightening to remember. With an inner urgency, I feel compelled to relate this story to a sleeping giant, a confession to myself that innocence is not lost, by anyone. It is either stolen or given away. I gave mine away with eager reluctance. To gain it back would be a pearl of great value...I lived the life unfolded on these pages, as surely as I live and breathe today. In defiance of reality, I feel certain that more than one of the players of this drama, purportedly dead or otherwise disappeared, has neither died nor vanished but has chosen to withdraw into the woodwork of time, until called upon again, to take on another bit part. The story is fiction, but the plot is real, taken from the annals of Mississippi history, and spread out like an open-faced hot roast beef sandwich. It's all in there, layer by layer, with the messy gravy, sour pickles and crisp lettuce, wrapped up together in an unlikely union which is easier to digest a little bit at a time, rather than all at once, but which has more flavor and character taken as a whole, just like the life and times of these characters.
Author Biography
The author, better known these days as Charlie Moore in social circles and business, and as CHARLIE! in the local music scene, was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, during the heyday of the Dixie Mafia, and as a musician on the Coast, was often around local underworld figures who owned or frequented the local clubs. Living and working in Charleston, SC since late 1989, and known as one of the most hard-working and ethical general contractors in the area...still active in business today...Charlie began a metamorphosis back into the love of his life, in concurrence with the dying wishes of his beloved wife, Janet Lynn, to "do what makes you happy...you deserve it..." Beginning on Mother's Day, 2012, after writing his first a Capella song, "My Lady Jan," Charlie has embarked on a very unique career as an a Capella singer/songwriter. As a bonafide Nashville recording artist, having recorded four (4) debut albums of totally original, totally a Capella songs at Alliance Sound/Image Productions, owned by his Brother in Christ of almost forty years, Bobby Spence, in March of 2014, Charlie has the albums set for worldwide distribution through cdbaby.com and about a hundred partners, like Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, etc., as the first four volumes--so far--of the "Naked Songs For Shower Singers" collection. The author wholeheartedly believes in the Power of the Holy Spirit, and this said, "To God The Glory! It's His World...we are only here for a heartbeat in time."
