by J. Ken Mullen (Author)
The hardships and good times of early prairie homesteaders in the 1930's.
Author Biography
Ken Mullen was born in 1931 on a homestead in Saskatchewan near Ethelton. He was the youngest in the family, having three older sisters: Helen, Flo and Aileen. The family did mixed farming, including grain, horses, cows, pigs and a garden. His first eight grades were completed in a one-room school. The family eventually moved to Vancouver Island where Ken met and married Evelyn Cottle in Nanaimo and worked at the Harmac Pulp Mill as the Instrument Foreman then Planner until retirement. But the stories of homesteading on the prairies needed to be told and he decided to record them in this book.
