The colonial resistance in Akwa country was the result of several causes, which can be summarized by the firm will of the Akwa to defend the integrity of their community. These resistances were undoubtedly well-organized, by various actors, in various forms, with a considerable participation of women. However, in spite of the great and formidable intelligence of the local fighters, the enemy's more modern and deadly weaponry was able to overcome their rudimentary weapons of limited effectiveness. These resistances were the struggle of the iron pot against the earthen pot. What is noteworthy is that despite everything, the colonial enterprise never succeeded in totally eliminating the socio-cultural values of this society.
