by Sharon Fish Mooney (Author)
Quiet Moments for Nurses: Biblical Reflections for Rest and Renewal includes ninety devotions to give nurses and nursing students a break from their demanding schedules and responsibilities. Each short chapter includes a quote from Scripture and a reflection with personal and practical examples from the author's and other nurses' experiences in hospital, nursing home, and home care settings with patients of all ages. Experiences of family caregiving, Parish nursing, nursing education, and missionary nursing are shared as well as the experiences and wisdom of many patients cared for over the years. Nursing history is addressed, including a number of real and fictional nursing ancestors. Daily devotions like "On Call" and "Physical Therapy" include meditations on passages that focus on God's provision of wisdom, strength, refreshment, and renewal, bringing God's perspective into the realities of daily nursing tasks. Quiet Moments for Nurses is a resource for the individual nurse or for nurses and nursing students who meet in small groups.
