Between drunk fathers, iron-fisted mothers, and a tumultuous relationship with her cousin, Elaine, Tammy's heart is set on getting as far away from the craziness of home as possible. But it turns out, crazy is something she can't outrun. Looking back from twenty-one, Tammy recounts snapshots of her short protected life, and tries to make sense of a mother who felt more at home talking to cows in the barn than her children, and an oblivious father who had one bad idea after another, and why her friendship with Elaine fell apart with disastrous consequences. In moments both laugh out funny and compelling, Tammy struggles through the uncertainty of growing up, searching for the answers so she can finally let go of the past.

Author Biography

Whether on the stage or on the page Deborah Kimmett is ONE FUNNY LADY. An accomplished author and playwright she has taught people how to write and get their good ideas out on the page for over thirty years. Starting out performing directing and teaching at the Second City for twenty years she learned that if people say yes to life they can move their creativity forward. She has written for Red Green, W Network and many productions for CBC Radio. She can be heard sparring regularly on CBC Radio and Television Show, The Debaters and Winnipeg Comedy Festival. A playwright with seven plays produced (one called Miracle Mother was nominated for a Governor General Award) she is author of f two books, Reality is Over Rated, and That which Doesn't Kill you Makes you Funnier. This is her first novel and has movie called A Rock and A Hard Place, in development
