Description: This popular culinary herb produces its oil by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops of the plant. Sweet Basil is enlivening, comforting and helpful for clarity and strength of mind. There are many chemo-types of this oil but this chemotype has a higher percentage of thymol (antiseptic agent). Basil has a pleasant, sweet, herbaceous and light refreshing odor.
Precautions: Best to avoid during pregnancy.
Ideal uses: massage, bath and inhalation.
Co-blenders: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Ginger, Lavender, Lemon, Sweet Marjoram, Niaouli, Rosemary, Peppermint, Pine, Thyme and Tea Tree.

Fun Fact:
Basil takes it name from Latin for a royal “Basileum”, possibly because the plant was so highly prized that it was considered a king amongst plants.
