by Adele Aldridge (Author)
Concrete poetry is usually, but not always, limited to the arrangement of letters in one word and must be seen to be understood. One can not read a visual poem to a blind person without going into a complex explanation. And if you have to explain the poem you are lost. Viewing a concrete poem is an experience of meaning that takes place between the viewer and the placement of the words, while "normal" poetry is enhanced by listening to the rhythm of the words spoken.
