Author Biography

Lifelong naturalists Sally Roth and Matt Bartmann live in the high Rockies of Colorado, where they work and research from their off-grid home. Matt's lived in this same canyon since he was one year old. Sally's lived in the East, the Midwest, and the Pacific Northwest, and is happy to have finally put down permanent roots with Matt. A contributing editor for Birds & Blooms and a former contributing editor for Fine Gardening, Sally is the award-winning author of many books about birds and plants. Matt, a photographer, editor, and designer, is also an excellent driver who takes the wheel on their outings so that Sally can look out the window to her heart's content.
