Los Angeles Water Works explores Southern California's connections to water and is published by the nonprofit organization the Studio for Southern California History. This book was compiled over the summer of 2013 in part to acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Los Angeles Aqueduct on November 5th and its regional consequences. This book has art, poetry, history information, maps and resources to go further.
Author Biography
This book is co-authored collectively through the Studio for Southern California History by Heather Agnew, Nancy Bautista, Kevin Cabrera, George Castillo, Gabrielle Garcia, Kristin Hargrove, Jason Hong, Michelle Alexandra Lopez, Deanna Matsumoto, Mark O'Meany, Rosa Mazon, Shawn Neill, Megyn Rugh, Hilary Ribbens, Sharon Sekhon and Sarah Wise. Poems have been contributed by Marne Carmean, Ophelia Chong, Gabrielle Garcia, Olga García Echeverría, Jeremy Hight, Lisa Hight, Theresia Rosa Kleeman, Lewis MacAdams, Marilynn Montaño, Jim Natal, Toshiyuki 'Boshicho' Okamura, Sharon Sekhon, Mike Sonksen and Susan Suntree. The cover art is by Linda Vallejo and is from 2004 and titled "Salt Flats, Death Valley." Photographs by Michael Prather and Sharon Sekhon.
