Edith Ferns' KISS principle is the focus of LET'S COOK & KISS - KEEP IT SHORT & SIMPLE: A great way to deconstruct modern cooking and de-clutter the kitchen. A user-friendly bench-top guide for all ages and sexes, from a very practical point of view: Fast-paced lives need inspiration for stress free, creative cooking. The recipe format is easy to follow and has no strict measurements - just kitchen cups and spoons. It centres on pantry basics with a simple system of adding a few extras and playing with options plus some healthy diet-aware variations. The key to successful quick cuisine is organising ahead. To get there, a pantry guide plus kitchen layout and equipment suggestions are listed. Food cultures from East to West merge into new flavours, plus there's the comfort of old-fashioned cakes and puddings. With this book on the bench, you will spend less time, have more fun, and be more relaxed and imaginative in the kitchen.
Author Biography
Edith Ferns is not a celebrated chef, food columnist, or cookery teacher. She has spent 25 years in a fast paced corporate job in Sydney. Far from the kitchen all day, and then organising food at home nearly every day's end, meant no time for experimenting with complex culinary challenges. Not even enough time to read the glamorous cook books on the coffee table. So the focus was on pulling up her sleeves, adopting and adapting recipes, then learning them by heart. Options evolved too, when ingredients ran out, and the new ideas became a lot of different dishes. Inspiration for Let's Cook and Kiss came from friends who had enjoyed her special quick cooking style when they dropped by unexpectedly. Having written training and motivation guides for an international staff recruitment company, her idea was to create a user-friendly cookery guide that would enthuse cooks with success in the kitchen. The book got exceptional media coverage and she turned up the heat - suddenly it was cooking for magazine photo shoots, food demonstrations, radio and TV, talks, and wine society lunches. Let's Cook & Kiss was a sell out. Now Byron Bay on the northeast coast is home to Edith, with husband Tom and their family. In this lush countryside, fresh produce abounds and relaxed lazy lunches are the way to go. She is still often asked for recipes and copies of that book, so now it is relaunching as a smart paperback. Here's to cooking and kissing and having fun in the kitchen.
