by Jim Selman (Author)
BACK COVER of the book, "LEADERSHIP" by Jim Selman In this book, Jim Selman presents essays written between 1998 and 2010. The common thread of these essays is that leaders are committed to creating the future. The author posits that the majority of recurring problems that we have today cannot be solved within the historical and cultural context in which they came about. He suggests that the largest collective problem that we have is a "problem of paradigm" - the type of problem that does not have a solution. In other words, Selman proposes that solving problems is a manager's task. Creating problems that deserve to be solved, is a leader's task. In his opinion, leadership is a linguistic phenomenon and a constant process of transformation based on personal responsibility and commitment. From his ontological discipline we can begin to observe that paradigms are linguistic interpretations and see how human beings achieve breakthrough results by inventing new futures for themselves, their organizations and the global community.
Author Biography
Jim Selman, born in the United States of America. Jim has been a pioneer in the practice of transformational leadership in public and private organizations for more than 30 years. He works in the development of leadership in the ontological discipline to identify the need to express organizational change. In 1989, Jim Selman and Roger Evered were the first to present coaching as a new paradigm for change in management and culture. This article that laid down the foundations in this area is still relevant today. Contemporary management culture based on the intention of controlling others is a counterpoint to a new culture of management based on the intention of devolving power. Together with Dr. Marc Cooper, he authored The Elder, and he is the founder The Eldering Institute. Leadership is published in Spanish and Portuguese.
