Author Biography
Anita Woodley Dennis is a retired educator who is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education from Southern University at New Orleans and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of New Orleans. Anita is also a certified Reading Specialist. She has taught high school English for 33 years. She is also a certified Mentor Teacher in the state of Louisiana. In her career as an educator, Anita was selected as Teacher of the Year several times, and has served on numerous education-related committees. She has also served as an 8(g) grant reader for the Louisiana State Department of Education. She has written and received numerous academic grants to benefit the students, schools, and communities where she has taught, and to develop, enhance, and extend the skills of her students. Anita has also served as Site Coordinator for several educational programs. She has served as both a commencement and motivational speaker. She is published in American Federation of Teachers Magazine (2006) and World Treasury of Great Poems, Vol. II. She enjoys reading for pleasure, writing poetry, and public speaking. Anita is married, the proud mother of three, and also the loving grandmother of three.
